Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics is a critical sector to the US economy, employing over 4.6 million workers. Through a two-year JFF initiative, 10 regions can scale up their training programs in this sector.
Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (TDL) is a critical sector to the U.S. economy, employing over 4.6 million workers. Through JFF’s Delivering the TDL Workforce, a two-year initiative generously supported by the Walmart Foundation, ten regions across the country scaled up their TDL training programs to provide low- to middle-skilled workers with training and supportive services that led to industry recognized credentials and placed them into good jobs.
This series of profiles highlights the innovative ways three grant recipients used Delivering the TDL funding:
• Central Iowa Works extended a TDL training program into two prisons to create new training and employment opportunities for women and men returning from incarceration.
• Hinds Community College used marketing creatively to recruit women to the KLLM Driving Academy.
• New Community Corporation in Newark leveraged the grant for long-term sustainability by seeking accreditation, making programs eligible for federal financial aid and expanding the pool of students who can benefit.
