The Peer Coaching Toolkit was designed to support peer coaching programs in high school equivalency (HSE) programs and high schools using the MyBestBets web and mobile app for postsecondary and career exploration. However, any peer coaching program can benefit from its tools. JFF developed this toolkit with East Side House Settlement and Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, which started using peer coaches as part of their implementation of MyBestBets. It features a rich set of resources to assist staff as they launch, operate, and evaluate peer coaching programs. Peer coaches and their supervisors can use these tools to do everything from writing staff job descriptions to training peer coaches to conducting workshops to evaluating performance. Taken together, these tools help peer coaching programs:
- Improve the quality of program design and operations, including how to hire and train peer coaches;
- Maximize program consistency and efficiency by offering templates and other tools you can use and adapt to avoid reinventing the wheel; and
- Evaluate the performance of peer coaches and the program overall.
