Shana is vice president of DMM Meat and Seafood for Sam’s Club. Most recently, she was regional general manager, Central U.S., leading thousands of Sam’s Club’s Fresh associates in the field, using her 25 years of experience to accelerate the company’s efforts in this area.
Previously, Shana was responsible for the Associate Experience Design team supporting the over 1.3 million Walmart U.S. associates in stores, as well as merchants and in the home office. The Walmart AED team transitioned to an agile way of working, allowing for an increase in productivity and throughput while maintaining and delivering high quality content. Her team strived to create a seamless learning experience for associates that enables learning to take place in the moment when they need it—they called it Learning Without Limits.
Shana holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Eastern Illinois University and received her Professional in Human Resources certification in 2007 and her Society for Human Resources Management – Certified Practitioner certification in 2015. As a lifelong learner, Shana has continued her educational experiences, receiving multiple certifications from Cornell University. Within Walmart, Shana has been recognized with the opportunity to attend Walmart’s selective leadership development program, Leadership Academy, and has received the award for HR Excellence in 2007 for her contributions to the HR team.
Shana began her career with Walmart in 1991 as a cashier in Mattoon, Illinois, and progressed through several roles in Human Resources and Store Operations. She has had the opportunity to lead a $9 billion operation as a Vice President, Regional General Manager supporting 115 stores and over 32,000 associates, advancing the growth of her business and the capabilities of her management team. In 2015, Shana was asked to develop a strategy for a new Fresh Operations organization within Walmart that was focused on driving market share and reducing waste. By applying strong talent attraction, development, and management practices, Shana staffed a 160-person team of industry professionals and retail experts to develop in-store talent and drive Walmart to Win in Fresh.
