JFF was identified as a prominent supporter of the National Apprenticeship Act of 2020 in a press release announcing that the Committee on Education and Labor of the U.S. House of Representatives had voted to advance the legislation for consideration by the full House.

The legislation—which would update the National Apprenticeship Act for the first time since its enactment in 1937—calls for historic investments in workforce training to confront the sharp rise in unemployment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his opening statement during the committee’s discussion of the act, Chairman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott said, “There is no better time than now to invest in this proven program to help people get back to work as tens of millions of workers continue to receive unemployment checks each week.”
